Alex Caffi Motorsport realizes the best weekend of the season in the Nascar Whelen Euro Series 2019 at Brands Hatch

In Elite 2, the team coordinated by the former F1 driver hits the top ten and gives authentic emotions with Krasonis, Vartiainen and Veronesi. In Elite 1 Ferrando leads the charge with an excellent progression while Miura remains at the top in the Challenger Trophy.

A particularly exciting weekend marked the third round of the Alex Caffi Motorsport season in the Nascar Whelen Euro Series 2019 at Brands Hatch (GB).

The team coordinated by the former Monegasque F1 driver has lined up in Elite 1 the Ford Mustang #1 for the debutant in the category Jennifer Jo Cobb (USA), the Chevrolet SS #2 for Kenko Miura (JPN) and the Ford Mustang #27 with the French Thomas Ferrando. In Elite 2 the cars were driven by Thomas Krasonis (GRC) #1, Jesse Vartiainen (FIN) #2 and Pierluigi Veronesi #27.

Elite 1

In qualifying the best team performance went to Ferrando who in 50.141 took the Ford Mustang #27 to the twentieth overall and ninth in Junior. Miura stopped the clock in 50,386 with the third performance in the Challenger Trophy. Some difficulties for Jennifer Jo Cobb who on her return to the Nascar Whelen Wuro Series closed rather late.
In the Saturday Race Ferrando materialized a spectacular comeback with the fourteenth overall place, seventh among the juniors. Great satisfaction for him that preceded on the finish line of the former Formula 1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve. Miura conquered another third place in the Challenger Trophy fighting also for the second step of the podium. A more complex race for Cobb, who after a good start had to stop on lap 8.
In the Sunday Race Thomas Ferrando improved the result of the first race and crossed the line in fifth place in Junior, thirteenth overall. Miura repeated his third place in Challenger Trophy. Cobb had to raise again the white flag after the thirteenth lap.

Elite 2

Alex Caffi Motorsport's drivers did an amazing performance in Elite 2. Vartiainen and Krasonis entered the Superpole for the first time this season. The Finnish driver finished eleventh in 50.347, while Krasonis finished twelfth behind his team-mate in 50.426. Veronesi missed the Superpole by only 57 thousandths and finished fourteenth in 50.335.

The Saturday Race was exciting with Krasonis who, after an exceptional performance, finished sixth overall, fifth of the rookies. Vartiainen was ahead of his team mate but was slowed down after a restart. He closed eleventh overall. Veronesi was concrete and effective, hitting the top ten with the ninth overall and winning other important points for the championship.

In the Sunday Race, Vartiainen repeated the eleventh position of race one while Veronesi closed fifteenth confirming his fourth place in the championship. Krasonis finished slower than the 22nd overall.

Alex Caffi – Team Manager:

"I'm really excited about the development of the Brands Hatch weekend. Especially in Elite 2 we were finally able to have some great races, not conditioned by episodes, and we showed the potential of the team and the cars. We are one of the only teams to have three cars always at the top and also on this occasion the mechanics did a great job. The season may have started with some difficulties due to the fact that we were unable to carry out tests during the winter, but the result obtained in England shows that we are improving our pace in the right way".
