JAY HOWARD TO HOST CELEBRITY KARTING ENDURO AT INDY'S K1 SPEED TO BENEFIT ONE CURE
Inaugural event to be held at Fisher's K1 Speed On Jan. 27, 2019
- Indy 500 veteran driver Jay Howard will host the inaugural Celebrity Karting Enduro to benefit One Cure, which brings awareness to comparative oncology - the researching and studying of cancer and treatments across different species, this month. The event will take place on Sun., Jan. 27, at K1 Speed.
"I'm really excited to be racing for One Cure again and I think all the drivers would agree getting to race in karts is always a blast," said Howard. "K1 Speed is the perfect setting for an event like this and we hope to raise a lot of money and increase awareness for One Cure at the same time."
Pro drivers will be paired with four other participants for a team of five, with 10 total teams. The teams will compete against one another in the race where each member will do a number of laps before trading off to the next team member to take over driving. A silent auction will include items such as signed memorabilia, tickets to sporting events, including the 2019 Indy 500, and autographed items by professional athletes and celebrities. All proceeds from the event will be donated to One Cure, a 501c3 Foundation.
Event sponsors include: K1 Speed, Red Bull, Pepsi, Aquafina, A Cut Above Catering, and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The event will take place at K1's sole Indianapolis location: 9998 E 121st St, Fishers, Ind. 46037, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. EST. To register to race at the event, individual driver ticket cost is $350, while attendance tickets cost $100. To register a full team (four individuals), the cost is $1,000.
