High expectations for Salih Yoluc heading to Spa

This weekend is the penultimate round of the FIA World Endurance Super Season and for Salih Yoluc, it is a critical race weekend in the battle for Pro-Am honours.

Salih is reunited with Euan Hankey in the #90 Aston Martin Vantage GTE as well as team regular Charlie Eastwood. Euan started the Super Season with Salih and was then on hand throughout the Asian Le Mans Series programme, working with Salih on data analysis in what was then a new racing environment for the Turkish racer.

Salih is fourth in the Pro-Am class overall, just one point behind the third-placed Aston Martin Racing entry. This makes the Belgian round is especially important as another strong result will keep him in the title battle heading to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Last year in what was the opening round of the Super Season, Salih, Euan and Charlie finished second in what has been the closest finish of the season. Despite his considerable efforts, Euan was unable to take the lead on the final lap and finished 0.221 behind the race winner.

“BoP has not been on our side since the round one and I'm thinking it will not be any different for this round, but we will do our best to get a win,” Salih said. “I'm happy to have Euan back and really looking forward to the race. We really need a good result to take our championship hopes to the last race which is the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“A win is long overdue, we came really close at Spa, Silverstone and Fuji but we were very unlucky on each and every one of them.”

The track action begins Thursday with two official practice sessions and following a further practice session, qualifying takes place Friday afternoon. The 6H Spa starts Saturday at 13.30 local time.
