With an ex-Formula 1 driver in Roberto Merhi, rising GT and Prototype star Nick Foster, combined with Gentleman driver Nobuya Yamanaka, this made the completion of the event all the more special for the team, and a continuation from the successful Asian Le Mans Series programme from earlier in the year.
The team fielded the #35 Ligier JS P217, managing the varied needs required from all three drivers, whilst completing the demanding race with a minimum of pitstops and with no mechanical issues from the car itself; a testament to diligent preparation from the team.
Having finished 18th overall, 14th in class, the Ligier now remains in France for the time being and is available for testing in Southern Europe in the coming months. The team’s plan is then to compete in the Asian Le Mans Series once again in January and welcome enquiries from those interested in the four-round, two event championship in January.

“We are delighted with the result this weekend at arguably the greatest sportscar race in the world. Ahead of the Le Mans race, our team has now been in Europe since the beginning of August and it is a credit to their hard work that we enjoyed a successful and largely trouble-free race.
“The Ligier Gibson was fantastic and ran without any major problems; our team made no mistakes! We can only be happy with the overall team performance and that we continue to demonstrate that we can compete in the highest level of competition both in Europe as well as in Asia.
“The car is heading back to Ligier and then it’s our intention to run a test programme in Europe, if travel restrictions can be adhered to, looking at options for both Buriram and Sepang in the Asian Le Mans Series and beyond.
