M1RA confirms to run a pair of Hyundai i30 N TCRs in 2018
After clinching the TCR International Series’ Teams’ title in 2017, M1RA will stay on the top with its two new Hyundai i30 N TCR cars in the forthcoming season.
The Hungarian team have became the latest customer of Hyundai Motorsport: M1RA can enjoy the technical support from the famous South Korean manufacturer during the 2018 season. M1RA’s two new i30 N TCR cars were developed last year with assistance of the former world champion Gabriele Tarquini as an official test driver. The model made an outstanding competitive debut in 2017, as the i30 N TCR claimed two victories, three podium finishes, one pole position and three fastest race laps in six races.
“It is always a good feeling to see hard work pay off – said Dávid Bári, the team principal of M1RA. – We had an intensive winter season, after we had won the Teams’ title in TCR International Series last year. I have visited Hyundai’s headquarters in Germany several times, and I was always impressed how professional and committed they are. I believe, the combination of i30 N TCR and M1RA can form a strong package in the TCR category. To unleash the full potential in our team, we need a close relationship with a dedicated manufacturer with strong customer support, so I am really looking forward to this cooperation.”
“We are very happy to welcome M1RA as a Hyundai Motorsport customer with the i30 N TCR this season – said Andrew Johns, Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing Senior Sales Associate. – They proved themselves to be a formidable, professional group last year, when they won the Teams’ champions in the TCR International Series in their first full year of competition. With their excellent record, and the performance of the i30 N TCR, we are certain they will be able to challenge for victory wherever they choose to compete, and we look forward to supporting the team and their drivers during the season ahead.”
It has not been confirmed yet, which series M1RA will take part in with its new Hyundais this year, but the team would compete as high level as possible.
“The team has several options for the forthcoming season and I am sure we will find the best solution soon. We would be happy to compete in a strong regional TCR championship, however we have not given up to show up in the WTCR as well” – declared Dávid Bári.
