PURE ETCR secures free-to-air coverage in Sweden with Kanal 9

- Coverage of all PURE ETCR events across 2021 season - Free-to-air deal brings all-electric motorsport to fans in Sweden - Ground-breaking new series to begin in June -

  PURE ETCR, the world’s first all-electric, multi-brand touring car championship, is delighted to announce a major new free-to-air partnership with one of Sweden’s leading broadcasters, Kanal 9.

Established in 2007 and part of Discovery Network, Kanal 9 airs a wide range of content from lifestyle and interior shows to high-octane documentaries and sporting events.

Electromobility is rapidly gaining momentum in Sweden. In 2020 nearly a third of all new passenger cars sold in the Scandinavian country were electrified, compared to 11 percent a year earlier. Electrified cars accounted for a staggering 49 per cent of December sales.

PURE ETCR, the world’s first all-electric, multi-brand touring car championship, will host its first full season in 2021 with a calendar comprising five all-action events in Europe and Asia, beginning at Autdromo Vallelunga Piero Taruffi, Italy, on June 18-20.

The competing machines are the most powerful touring cars ever built with a peak power of 500kW - the equivalent of 670bhp - generated by their electric motors.

I’m sure the non-stop action that PURE ETCR will create will show the fans in Sweden of the immense potential of electric cars.”
