Dakar 2020: a new chapter, a new continent, a 30th country, a new adventure!

The Dakar Competitors Service Team welcomes you and thanks you for your trust.

After the "Dakar Tours" in Paris, Warsaw and Buenos Aires and the "Workshops Concurrent Dakar" on 3 continents, now it's time for the "Essentials".

This regular meeting dedicated to competitors registered is an privileged communication area. It gathers everything you need to know without fail in order to properly prepare your Rallye until the departure.

You are writing this "Chapter 3" of Dakar and the entire team is at your disposal to help you.

We invite all competitors to the presentation of all the stages of the Dakar 2020 on November, 20th at 11am at the Arab World Institute in Paris. Save the date!

We will send you more information soon.

Licenses: be compliant!
To get your license, please follow the next steps:

Bike / Quad license:
To obtain the international FIM 2019 license, competitors will have to undergo the following examinations, in addition to the usual medical examination (Appendices A and B of the FIM Medical Code) :
1. An exercise EKG test (3 years validity).
2. An echocardiogram (life validity).

Car / Truck / SSV license:
To obtain the international ICCCR FIA 2019 license for cross-country Rallies (necessary to take part in the Dakar), competitors in both Car and Truck categories (pilots and co-pilots) must fulfil the following conditions:
1. you have already possessed an international FIA license for cross-country Rallies: you only have to make a Renewal demand of license from your ASN.
2. You have never had an international license: you must hold a national license and must have participated in 2 national races in the same year. No exemption will be accepted.

Weather conditions
New continent, new country, new weather conditions!
If the sun is shining almost everyday in Saudi Arabia, temperatures might be high during the day but low during the night. Nights are cold: in January, temperature may vary between 0 and -5°C. We recommend to bring warm clothes.
