– WRC Promoter has completed a multi-year agreement with Dutch watch brand TW Steel to join the FIA World Rally Championship in 2021 as its Official Watch Partner.

The alliance will be launched at next week’s prestigious season-opening Rallye Monte-Carlo (21 - 24 January), which starts on Thursday evening in the heart of the French Alps in Gap.

The company, which was founded in Amsterdam by father and son team Ton and Jordy Cobelens in 2005, has a powerful motorsport history which includes partnerships with 2003 WRC champion Petter Solberg and ex-Formula 1 world champions Damon Hill and Nigel Mansell.

TW Steel is renowned for big and bold statement watches, featuring innovative design and luxurious styling, paired with Swiss-build quality.

It will create bespoke WRC watches in 2021 to celebrate its entrance into rallying’s most important and prestigious championship, as well as supporting the eSports WRC world final later in the year.

TW Steel will be visible across championship assets, as well as via a vast digital and social media presence.

WRC Promoter marketing and sales director Thomas Tap said the partnership highlighted the championship’s intense sporting ethos.

“WRC’s excitement is sparked by breathtaking battles against the clock in extreme conditions, and accurate timekeeping defines what the sport is about,” he said.

“We welcome TW Steel, a brand with a deep-seated motorsport background, to the WRC and we look forward to plenty of nail-biting action together as the WRC approaches its 50th season in 2022.”

TW Steel CEO Jordy Cobelens explained the company’s passion for the world’s best motorsports.

“Whether it is two wheels or four, we love the combination of speed, performance and timing,” he said. “As such, we’re excited to team up with WRC as Official Watch Partner.

“As a pillar in the world of motorsport, its competition is pure, top notch and action-packed  which matches our timepieces perfectly. It brings more firepower to our Fast Lane platform and fits well with our stable of ambassadors, like Petter Solberg. I can’t wait to shift gears together.”
